Sunday School

We continue to offer our worship and classroom blend of Christian education to our students ages pre-K through grade 8.  Volunteer teachers are needed for the months of March through June.  Please consider serving one Sunday - you will be blessed by spending time with the students of Second Church.  Sign-up sheets are available on the bulletin board outside Laura’s office, which is just outside the Living Room.

 Music

We continue to be blessed by Lori L’Italien’s ministry of music to our children in Sunday school each week, as well as her work with the Children’s Choir.  She is also working with Howard Cassidy-Moffatt and George Attisano to oversee the newly-formed children’s band - where children are encouraged to bring their instruments and sing each week as part of our children’s worship time in Sunday school.  In addition to her considerable vocal skills, Lori plays piano, trumpet and trombone.  She is helping us encourage the students to understand music as a way to worship God.

 For Youth Groups, we are setting a consistent schedule of the 2^nd and 4^th Sundays of each month for Junior High Youth Group meetings.   The Junior High group (grades 6-8) will meet from 12-2 PM in Room 111.  Games, movies, Cosmic Bowling, and service opportunities will be featured for the Junior High group.   Tracy Summerer will also have a consistent schedule and will meet with the Senior High Youth Group (grades 9-12) every Sunday from 4-6 pm in the Youth Room.  Regular times of fellowship, games, discussions and service projects will be opportunities for growth and fun.  The Senior High group also does one Mission Trip each year. 

Another way we are trying to minimize our costs is to have families with youth group members sponsor and/ or provide meals for our youth- if each family with a youth group member could sign up with Laura or Tracy for one Sunday, that will help us keep costs down.  Volunteer drivers are sometimes needed for certain events- please see Laura or Tracy if you are interested in occasionally or regularly volunteering. 

Post- Confirmand Senior High Youth are integral members of our community.  Youth will have opportunities to serve as lay readers, Sunday School assistant teachers and children’s worship leaders, as well as regularly participating in music ministry during the main worship service.
